How to Restore Deleted Shopify Products in 2026

If a product was deleted from Shopify, the recovery options depend on one thing: whether a copy of that product data existed before the deletion.

Direct answer: Shopify does not provide a native way to restore a permanently deleted product. Shopify's own documentation states that deleted products are permanently removed. If you had a CSV export, supplier feed, external catalog, or a recovery app already protecting the product, you may be able to recreate or restore it. If no copy existed anywhere before deletion, the product normally has to be rebuilt manually.

Can Shopify restore a deleted product?

No. Shopify's product documentation says deleted products are permanently removed and cannot be restored through the Shopify admin. Shopify Flow also notes that a deleted product cannot be restored from a deletion trigger because the deleted object is no longer available.

That is why merchants usually discover the problem only after the deletion has already happened: there is no native Shopify recycle bin or undo button for products.

If the product is already deleted, check these recovery sources

  1. Recent Shopify CSV exports. If you exported products before the deletion, import or use that file to recreate the missing listing.
  2. Supplier, ERP, PIM or dropshipping data. A connected source may still contain titles, SKUs, prices, descriptions and product images.
  3. Google Merchant Center or other sales-channel feeds. Synced catalogs may preserve enough product information to rebuild the listing.
  4. Order history and operational records. Past orders, invoices and internal spreadsheets can help reconstruct variant names, SKUs and pricing.
  5. A backup or recovery app that was installed before deletion. If an app already captured the product data, use that app's restore workflow.
Do not install a recovery app expecting it to reconstruct an old deletion. An app can only restore data it previously captured. RecycleBin, for example, protects product deletions that occur after it is installed.

How to prevent the next accidental deletion

For stores where multiple staff members, integrations or bulk workflows can delete catalog data, the practical solution is to create a recoverable copy at deletion time. RecycleBin - Product Restore is built specifically for this problem.

After installation, RecycleBin automatically captures protected Shopify product deletions and keeps them recoverable for 30 days. A merchant can then restore supported product data from the RecycleBin dashboard instead of manually rebuilding the product.

What RecycleBin restores

For protected deletions within its recovery window, RecycleBin supports restoration of core product data including:

Does Shopify have a recycle bin?

Not for deleted products. Shopify recommends archiving products when you no longer want them visible but do not want to permanently remove them. RecycleBin adds a dedicated recovery workflow for accidental deletions that happen after the app is installed.
